There’s currently no vet on the island of Vis, in Croatia. Street Cats of Vis is an all-volunteer project that helps people help cats, doing what we can with what we’ve got. We hope to inspire people to become aware of the needs of street cats, to help care for them and to help stabilize the population. It takes a community to help community cats!

What we do

This is an all-volunteer project, so it only works when people like you get involved. The more people who are willing to help, the less overwhelming it becomes! The work we do falls under these four points. If you can participate in any of these, let us know.

Rescue

People contact us about street cats that need help and we take the steps necessary to help them. This usually means transporting them to a vet in Split, providing treatment, feeding and after-care.

Foster

Sick or injured street cats may need special attention that can only be given in a controlled environment. We cultivate a network of people who can help by providing a temporary safe space and loving care.

Sterilize

Sterilization help stabilize the population of street cats. Do you know of a cat who needs to be sterilized? If we have money from donations (or if you’d like to fund the operation), we can make it happen.

Adopt

Once former street cats have been given medical care if needed, have been sterilized and house-trained, they’re ready for adoption. We can help you through the adoption process for any destination in Europe. Click on any cat in the gallery below to read their story.
