Street Cats of Vis : Helping People Help Cats

Help out in our Vis cathouse

If you want to help within walking distance of wherever you’re staying in Vis town, helping in the cathouse may be for you. Tasks range from simply spending time with the cats and kittens, helping socialize them, to giving us a hand with feeding, cleaning and possibly administering meds, if you know how or want to learn. Minimum time period is one week.

Help with colony feeding

Do you have a car or scooter? Great: you could help us with colony feeding. We’ll take you to the colonies we need help with (a short drive from Vis town) to show you what we do and when, and will of course provide food. Minimum time period is one week.

Off-season monthly offer for rugged adventurers only

Do you enjoy camping and hiking? Are you looking to get back to nature and do a digital detox? You might like living in the Earth Garden Tiny House on Shiva’s land, spending a month as caretaker for our cushiest cat colony. Accommodation consists of a very rudimentary tiny house about a 40-minute hike from town, with no running water and no fridge. The colony consists of about 15 rescued cats who need humans to give them food and cuddles from October through May every year. Read the gory details here. This tends to be popular with 20-somethings, but as long as you’re fit and can hike with a backpack, you’re good. Minimum time period is one month.

If any of these opportunities interest you, please contact us at streetcatsofvis@gmail.com or on social media.

If you can’t donate time, you could donate food, supplies or money.
