There’s currently no vet on the island of Vis, in Croatia. Street Cats of Vis is an all-volunteer citizen initiative that helps people help street cats, doing what we can with what we’ve got. We hope to inspire people to become aware of the needs of street cats, to help care for them and to help stabilize the population. It takes a community to help community cats!
We locate street cats that need help and take the steps necessary to help them. This usually means catching them, transporting them to a vet in Split, providing treatment, feeding and after-care.
Sick or injured street cats may need special attention that can only be given in a controlled environment. We cultivate a network of people who can help by providing a temporary safe space and loving care.
We hope to help stabilize the population of street cats through TNR. Do you know of a cat who needs to be sterilized? If we have money from donations (or if you’d like to fund the operation), we can make it happen.
The streets of Vis are a war zone for cats, especially in winter. There are plenty of socialized street cats who would love a good home, and we can help you through the adoption process.
